marcel barton, CNX Therapy, psychotherapist, counsellor, person centred

Hi, I’m Marcel

I'm a fully qualified and experienced UK-trained Psychotherapist, now based in Chiang Mai, Thailand. I work with clients from around the world, including many English-speaking residents and visitors here in Chiang Mai.

Alongside my psychotherapy practice, I’m also a trained counselling supervisor, having received comprehensive training from the senior BACP-accredited faculty at the University of Nottingham. I hold a Master of Arts in Person-Centred Experiential Counselling and Psychotherapy Practice, and a Bachelor of Arts in Western Philosophy and English Literature. My academic and professional background enables me to offer thoughtful, empathic support that is tailored to your individual needs and experiences.

In my private practice, I work with people from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures, many of whom are facing issues such as trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, and the upheavals of life transitions. I aim to provide a space of genuine connection and understanding, where you can begin to feel grounded again. Whether you're struggling with something specific, feeling isolated, or simply looking for a place to explore your inner world, I’m here to walk alongside you.

As a Person-Centred therapist, I believe in your natural capacity to grow, heal, and move toward a more meaningful and satisfying life. Sometimes that forward movement gets interrupted, often because of early life experiences or difficult circumstances that might lead us to doubt ourselves. My role isn’t to diagnose or direct you, but to offer a safe, supportive space where you can reconnect with your own direction and strength.

The therapy I offer is non-directive, non-diagnostic, and open to everyone. You bring whatever you need to bring, and we work at your pace. This Person-Centred Experiential approach is widely regarded as the most effective form of talking therapy, particularly for those wanting to go beyond symptom relief, toward deeper personal growth.
